Dear Zindagi box office collection day 2: SRK-Alia's film jumps to Rs 20cr in 2 days

Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt-starrer Dear Zindagi has earned Rs 20 crore at the box office in two days, thereby showing demonetisation the finger.Demonetisation? What demonetisation? After opening with Rs 8.75 crore on the first day,Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt's Dear Zindagi has grossed Rs 11.25 crore on the second day. As such, the total figures at the box office for Dear Zindagi stand at Rs 20 crore.Made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, Dear Zindagi, directed by English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde, is a small film unlike Shah Rukh's big-ticket releases like Happy New Year or Chennai Express.

Dear Zindagi stars Shah Rukh Khan as an affable Goa-based psychiatrist Dr Jehangir Khan who helps a mentally troubled young cinematographer Kaira (Alia Bhatt) get out of a psychological rut. Both Alia and Shah Rukh have been praised for their acting and the film's score, cinematography, writing and direction has received good reviews as well.

Dear Zindagi is only the second film after Rock On 2, which released on November 18, to have successfully beaten demonetisation to earn big bucks at the box office. With Kahaani 2 releasing next year, Dear Zindagi has a good five days till next Friday to make it big at the ticket counters.
